The festival of 2011

In a few days / weeks we will announce the program of 2011...

... but here are a few details in advance:

The theme of this year's festival will be Catalonia and the Catalan art. Catalonia is not just a part of Spain that likes to do things in its own way; over the years it has brought us a great number of the world's finest artists. Picasso, Miró, Tapies, Saura, Gaudi, just a few of the long list of famous names in the world of art.

Moreover, in a way Catalonia was the cradle of the classical guitar, Fernando Sor, Miguel Llobet, Isaac Albeniz and Francisco Tarrega are widely seen as the architects of the current guitar culture, and all come from - or are strongly linked to Catalonia.

The two winners of the competition in 2010 will perform two concertos for guitar and orchestra: The Concertante by Xavier Benguerel and the Retrats Catalans by Leo Brouwer.

The obligatory work for the competition this year will be the Dues Suggestions by Salvador Brotons.
