Sanja Plohl (2nd prize)
Slovenian guitarist Sanja Plohl is performing internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. She is distinguished for her genuine musicality, unique musical expression, maturity and excellent technique.
Sanja's recent appearances include recitals at music festivals in Spain, Portugal, UK and Slovenia, as well as a recital at the prestigious Great Hall of Slovenian Philharmonic in Ljubljana. In 2009, her recital of Latin American music at the Imago Sloveniae Festival in Ljubljana was broadcasted on the Slovenian national television.
In addition to performing, Sanja composes music and often includes her own works in the concert programmes. She also collaborates with other composers and has premiered many new works. Furthermore, she has been engaged in cross-over projects, giving master classes and didactic concerts.
Sanja's major influences came from renowned pedagogues Zoran Dukić, Thomas Offermann, Eliot Fisk and Oscar Ghiglia. She completed her master studies at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and a postgraduate programme at University Mozarteum in Salzburg.
Sanja's outstanding achievements were awarded by scholarships from Slovenian Ministry for Culture, Soroptimist International, Huygens Scholarship Programme, Accademia Chigiana, Música en Compostela and Zois Fund. She has received over 20 top prizes at international festivals and competitions in Spain, UK, Germany, Austria, Portugal, Serbia, The Netherlands, Croatia, Italy, Greece and Slovenia.
